            Archie Clyde Schallenberger, 92, of Hamilton passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Marcus Daly Hospice and Palliative Care Center.  He was born on June 10, 1925 in Ekalaka, MT, the first born son of the late Floyd and Hazel (Stewart) Schallenberger.

            Archie’s early childhood was spent in Ekalaka, but in the late 30’s Archie’s family moved to the Bitterroot Valley.  After graduating at Darby High School he entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 17.  He served his country during WWII in the South Pacific Islands of Guam and Midway as a Boat Coxwain (Driver) of Fast Attack Boats protecting our fleet ships from Japanese Subs.

            Upon end of service, Archie returned to his beloved Bitterroot Valley where he fell in love and married his wife of 66 years; Beatrice LaRae (Christopherson).  They had three children; Jim, Steven and Patti Rae.  He moved his family to Las Vegas, NV in the summer of 1959, where he obtained his Journeyman’s License in Plumbing.  He went on to Master Plumber and Job Foreman before opening his own business (Plumbing) from 1972 – 1982.  He and his lovely wife and daughter returned to Hamilton in 1986 to enjoy retirement.  He loved to bowl, fish and hunt.

            Archie is survived by his son, Jim (Debra) of Hamilton; daughter, Patti Rae of Hamilton; 4 grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Schallenberger of Billings, MT., Nichole Schallenberger of Boise, ID., Angela Schallenberger of Yerington, NV., and Namaste (Jerry) Butler of Post Falls, ID; 9 great grandchildren, Zachary, Grace, Jackson, Hadlee, Damien, Alvie, Kassie, Brittany and Marissa; and one great grandchild, Kolby.

            Pallbearers are, Ed Schallenberger, Doug Schallenberger, Randy Rennaker, Scott Reesman, Alan Holt and Ted Heiland.

            Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

            Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8th at the Daly-Leach Chapel with Doug Schallenberger officiating.  Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton with military honors presented by the U.S. Navy, Hamilton American Legion and the Marine Corps League – Bitterroot Detachement.

            The family suggests that memorials be made to the Marcus Daly Hospice Endowment Fund, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT 59840
