Barbara Ann Chavez

CORVALLIS - Barbara Ann (Moore) Chavez, 74, of Corvallis joined family and friends Friday, September 25, 2015. She was born October 5, 1940 to Carl L. and Faye (Flitcroft) Moore in Seymour, IA. Barbara married Ray Chavez, Sr. on September 17, 1975.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dean Moore; and her son, Stacey Stewart. Barbara is survived by her husband, Ray Chavez, Sr. of Corvallis; 2 sisters, Linda Clark of Salem, OR and Patricia (Ernest) Wright of Cedar Rapids, IA; 2 brothers, Carl (Theresa) Moore of Marion, IA and Vinita (and the late Dean) Moore of Rantoul, IL; 3 daughters, Josie (Brad) Peterson of Corvallis, Delina Santana of Miles City and Sylvia (Mark) Peterson of Corvallis; 1 son, Ray (Julia) Chavez, Jr. of Hamilton; 9 grandchildren, Delilah Lance, Heather (Dave) Ghekiere, Chrissy (Kyle) McCready, Garret and Emma Peterson, and Alysia, Jesse, Mazie and Caleb Chavez; 8 great-grandchildren, Alec and Jordana Bowcutt, Kailee, Kaileb and Kenzie McCready, and Kai, Bryce and Journie Ghekiere; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara grew up and graduated school in Iowa. She worked in retail for many years. Barbara lived in Idaho before settling in Montana. She loved spending time tending to her flowers, feeding the birds and playing cards. Barbara had a heart of gold and was loved by many. She was always there when needed and she will be greatly missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Blodget Rotary Park on Highway 93 just North of Hamilton with a pot-luck reception following.
