Carol L. (Guinter) Pomelear

HAMILTON – Carol L. (Guinter) Pomelear, 66, of Hamilton passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017.  She was born April 9, 1951 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of Harry A. and Lois May (Dickinson) Guinter. 

Carol graduated from high school in Brecksville, OH and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from Emory and Henry College in Virginia.  She then earned her Master’s in Counseling from the University of Virginia.

Carol married Ed Pomelear on Nov. 13, 1982 in Falls Church, VA.  She spent her life as a high school teacher, a stay at home mom who loved home schooling her children, a translator for schools and volunteer missionary work, and a Pastor’s wife.  Carol enjoyed sewing and singing and she was a member of the Rocky Mountain Bible Mission.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband, Ed, of Hamilton; sister, Janet Guinter of Lansing, MI; brother, Roy (Terry) Guinter of Silver Spring, MD; 2 sons, Charles (Amanda) Pomelear of Ft. Rucker, AL and Richard Pomelear of Missoula; 2 step-children, Diane Steen of Kingsland, GA and Gregory (Ryan) Pomelear of Schofield Barracks, HI; and 6 grandchildren, Ryanne and Megan Anderson both of Kingsland, GA, Imogen Pomelear of Hawaii and Caleb, Dean and Eli all of Enterprise, AL.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Daly-Leach Chapel with viewing following.   The services will be officiated by Pastor Grayling Repke of the Superior Community Church.  There will be a reception following the services in the funeral home’s community room.  Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Western Montana Veterans Cemetery in Missoula.

Pallbearers will be Diane Steen, Gregory, Charles and Richard Pomelear, Fred Jones and Larry Wallace.  The family suggests that memorial be made in Carol’s name to the Rocky Mountain Bible Mission, 1515 Fairview Ave, Suite 200, Missoula, MT  59801.
