HAMILTON – Chancy Charles Ralls, 77, of Hamilton passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at St Patrick Hospital in Missoula.  He was born April 15, 1939 in Hailey, ID the son of Chancy Sr. and Mauretta (Peck) Ralls. 

Chancy moved from Idaho with his family at the age of 9.  He attended school in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1957.  Chancy married Dorothy Mae Smith in 1960 and together they had 5 children.  In 1998 he married Bonita Hawkes and together they had 1 daughter.

Chancy lived and farmed in the Bitterroot Valley for almost 70 years.  He worked at the Rocky Mountain Lab for many years as an animal care taker and then boilerman until he retired.  Chancy was also well known for his AI service in the Valley.  He enjoyed square dancing and animals of all kinds.

Chancy was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by 6 children, Chad (Rebekah) Ralls of Hamilton, Shawna (Steve) Denney of Warrenton, OR, Karla Ralls of Libby, Anna (Charlie) Schepp of Enumclaw, WA, Heidi (Rico) Allen of Texarkana, TX, and Chloe Ralls of Sierra Vista, AZ; his brother, Ted (Catherine) Ralls of Victor; his sister, Marie (Lynn) Sauls of Idaho; another brother; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in Hamilton Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Relief Society Room.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 9 at the church with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton.  There will be a reception following the services at the church.
