Dear Jeanne and Family,

Son Derek's email reached us through Ed Spafard and brought the sad news of your recemt loss. It's been a long time since we have seen one another, but you have been in our thoughts many times, and of course now, in sympathy. We regret that we were unable to join the rest of the Port Dick Class on their past trips to Montana, and Germany, and hope our paths will cross again., Jeanne. May God, Family, and Friends support you in this difficult time. Love, Paul, Jane

Gae and family, I am so sorry about your dad's passing. He was a wonderful man and I remember him fondly substituting at Hamilton High School. May God grant you all peace at this time.

I'm so sorry to hear about Derek's passing. Your family was like my second home in high school. He was more of a friend than an authoritative figure. How did he put up with our crazy antics? He would laugh with us most of the time except the time we traded him my car for the red ford pickup to go to Como and he broke down going home haha! Salutes to a great man. He did put us to work a couple times tho-it was good for us as I look back.

Grace and Troy,
We are deeply saddened by the loss of your Father. I wish that there was something that we could do to take away your pain away, but no one can. Our only hope is that the love and prays of your family and friends will comfort you during these very difficult days. Always look back on all the good memories you have had with your dad...and always remember that those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. We love you guy and want you to know that we are here for you if you need us.

Our Love Always,
Ken & Julie McNeely

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Uncle Derek. While we didn't serve at the same time, I have always considered him to be a brother (in arms) as well as my Uncle. I will miss him.
