CORVALLIS - Donald "Don" Contraman, 75, of Corvallis passed away on October 5, 2017 with his wife Joan at his side. He was born September 14, 1942 in Lynwood California.
Don was an avid outdoor adventurist and with a passion for mountaineering and scuba diving. In addition, Don had a passion for service to others. These manifested themselves in the Boy Scouts of America, the American Red Cross, Knights of Columbus at St Francis Catholic Church, and the Elks.
Don's professional life spanned over 50 years in public service. First, working for the city of Garden Grove as the City Planner. He later expanded his horizons, moving on to become the City Planner for the City of Fountain Valley where he ultimately retired.
Once retired, Don and Joan bought a sheep ranch so that Joan could follow her passion of wool spinning. Once things settled, he found himself back in government work as the planner for the city of Hamilton and then Ravalli County.
Don is survived by his loving wife Joan.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday October 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St Francis Catholic Church in Hamilton with a luncheon following in the Pastoral Life Center. Interment will take place at a later date.
