Doris L. (Hanje) Guhrt

Darby - Doris L. Guhrt, 87, passed away peacefully August 10, 2017, at Edgewood Vista in Missoula.  She was born January 26, 1930 at Witt, Illinois, daughter of John and Minnie (Weber) Hanje.  She was raised on the family farm and educated there.

In October 1948, she moved to Billings, Montana.  On April 17, 1949, she married George Guhrt at Trinity Lutheran in Billings.  George worked for Northern Pacific Railroad and Doris at Aileen’s dress shop.

In March 1954 they moved to the Bitterroot Valley.  Before retiring, Doris worked at the Darby School cafeteria.  Doris enjoyed being outdoors working on the family farm and raised a big garden every year in Darby.  She spent many hours making quilts for Lutheran World Relief.  Doris was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her husband George (12/5/2005), her parents, sister and three brothers.

She is survived by her children Steve (Debbie) Guhrt of Hamilton, Montana, Nancy Tong of Bozeman, Montana and Connie (Bob) Chestnutt of Missoula, Montana, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00, August 18, at Daly-Leach Chapel.

Services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Friday, August 18, at 11:00 a.m., burial to follow at Hamilton Riverview Cemetery.  There will be a luncheon in the Grace Lutheran Church fellowship hall following burial.
