Elsworth (Bob) Romaine Pfeifer

October 2, 1930 – September 6, 2016

Elsworth passed away at Marcus Daly Hospice Center from complications of A July 1st fall at his home .He was born October 2nd, 1930 in Jordan, Montana to Fred and Amanda Pfeifer.  He was the third of their three children.

Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948 and was proud of his time in the service.  He met and married his wife Jean, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, shortly after his discharge in 1952.  They were married for 60 years.

Their first home was in Yellowstone National Park where Bob worked as a winter care taker with his sister Lenore and her husband Bud.  Shortly after the birth of their first child Diana, Bob and Jean settled in Hamilton, and began building their home and lives together.  They eventually raised three children, Diana, Craig, and Karen.

Bob’s first job upon returning to Hamilton was at the fish hatchery.  Diana has fond memories of the fish nibbling her toes as Bob would hold her over the fish holding tanks.  He would go on to work at the Rocky Mountain Laboratory as a lab technician until his retirement after 27 years of service.  For a time, he also worked at the Citizens State Bank as a janitor in the evenings.

Over the years Bob had many interests including, fishing, hunting, camping, bowling, archery, boxing, gardening, carpentry, and rubber raft racing.  But, his main and longest lasting interest was his family and providing for them.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jean, their son Craig, and oldest sister Marlys Pfyffer.

He is survived by his daughter Diana Jones (Steve) of Corvallis, Montana, Karen Schultz (Patrick) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, grandson Jason DeCorte of Tulsa, daughter-in-law Melodee of Tulsa, and sister Lenore Hutchings of Townsend, Montana.

He will missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Viewing will be Friday, September 9th, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Daly Leach Chapel, Hamilton. Services Saturday, September 10th, 4:00 pm, Grace Lutheran Church, Hamilton. There will be a private Commitment of both Bob and Jean, Monday, September 12th, Corvallis Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be made to Veterans Monument, P.O. Box 1391, Hamilton, Montana 59840.
