J. Arlene (Shook) Nicol

Juanita Arlene Shook Nicol, 79, of Hamilton, MT released from her earthly bonds on July 21, 2017 at Marcus Daly Hospice in Hamilton. She was born on June 27, 1938 to Dee and Ilda Shook of Conner. She attended school in Darby and at the University of Montana. Arlene spent many hours riding her horses on the trails of the Bitterroot Mountains.

Sixty years ago on January 28, 1957 she married Robert Nicol. They raised their 3 children in Tucson, AZ and spent every summer in McCall, ID and the Bitterroot Valley. Bob and Arlene returned to live in Montana in 1985, first in Missoula and then south of Hamilton. Arlene enjoyed her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She loved riding her horses, golfing, playing cards, and camping in the mountains.

She is survived by her husband, Bob. Her three children, Joe Nicol (Deb), Kim Zacha (Dave), Jan Cogburn (Ron). Sisters, DeAnna Kenison (Bob), Gloria Curdy (Willis), 9 grandchildren, and  6 great-grandchildren.

 A memorial service will be at Daly Leach Chapel at 1010 West Main St. in Hamilton on Saturday July, 29th at 2:00 p.m. With private family internment at a later date. The family suggests that memorials be made to The Marcus Daly Hospice Endowment Fund, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT 59840
