HAMILTON - James “Jim” E. Jetter, 87, of Hamilton, Montana, passed away on November 10, 2015 in Hamilton, Montana.

Jim was born in St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania to Robert Glenn Jetter and Madge Sarah Keller on November 14, 1927. He attended high school at Warren High School in Pennsylvania and joined the United States Navy in June of 1945. After the war, Jim worked in construction and met his wife, Kamie, in July of 1947. They married in August of 1949 and Jim worked as a Journeyman Pressman while they worked to build their own home. During this time, Jim and Kamie had four children and Jim started working as a Postal Letter Carrier.

Jim and his family moved to Hamilton, Montana in 1969 where he attended the University of Montana to become a teacher. Jim graduated in 1970 and passionately taught 6th grade at Daly Elementary in Hamilton for 17 years. Jim and Kamie retired from teaching in Hamilton in 1987 and enjoyed traveling the world for several years. Additionally, Jim continued to be dedicated to his community through his volunteer work at the Daly Mansion and driving cancer patients to their treatments for a number of years. Jim and Kamie also enjoyed being “snowbirds” through their travels to Arizona for 17 years where they were involved in excavations through the Ajo Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society.  Jim was also an avid bridge player in both Arizona and Montana and enjoyed getting outdoors by going hunting, hiking and fishing.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Jetter and Madge Keller, his brother, Robert Jetter, his sister, Margret Jetter, and his mother-in-law, Bess Kamerer.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Kamie Jetter of Hamilton, Montana, his son, Jay E. Jetter of Sitka, Alaska, his son, Jeffery J. Jetter of Stevensville, Montana, his daughter, Theresa M. Harper of Gilman, Wisconsin, his daughter, Sharon L. Jetter of Hamilton, Montana, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Daly-Leach Memorial Chapel on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.  Funeral service will be held at Daly-Leach Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Doug Peterson officiating.
