Laura Jean (Posey) Monson

Laura Jean (Posey) Monson, 86 of Corvallis passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 23, 2016.  She was born in Missoula, Montana to Robert and Alice (Downing) Posey.  She was very close to her step-mother, Marjorie (Dabney) Posey.

She ventured out into her adult life in 1950 to work for Crane Company, where she met and married Gerald Jensen, and was later blessed with three children.

On February 19, 1965, Laura married the love of her life, LeMonte Monson.  They both shared many adventures with three small children.  Laura and Monte lived in many beautiful places including Gold Bar, Washington, Oahu, Hawaii and Lake Tahoe, Nevada, but she always wanted to eventually settle back home in Montana.

In retirement, her wish was accomplished 23 years ago, when she and her husband of 52 years built their beautiful home in Corvallis.  She loved gardening and enjoying the beautiful sunsets on the Bitterroot Mountains.  One of her favorite part-time was watching her favorite football teams – the Seattle Seahawks.

She is survived by her sisters, Helen (Richard) Zwaller and, Doris Zahen; she leaves her husband, LeMonte Monson of Corvallis; her daughter, Lelora Fox of Arizona; sons, Mark Jensen of Philipsburg and Jeff Jensen of Washington; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Camp Make-a-dream, 90 Church Rd, Goldcreek, MT 59733 or the Corvallis American Legion Post 91 1335 Auction Way, Corvallis, MT 59828.  Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.

There will be a family service to honor our wife, mother and grandmother.  She will be missed more than she will ever know.
