Mabel Christine (Christensen) Pyle

Corvallis - Mabel Christine Pyle, 82, of Corvallis passed away Sunday, January 1st, 2017 at the Marcus Daly Hospital.  She was born September 13, 1934 in Poplar, MT, the daughter of the late Bert and Anna Christensen.

Mabel was raised on her parent’s farm a few miles south of the Missouri river between Poplar and Brockton.  After graduating from Sidney high school, she attended college in Minneapolis–St. Paul where she received a BS in Education.  While working one summer during college at the Many Glacier Hotel in Glacier Park she met her husband Larry Pyle.  They were married in June of 1955 and moved to eastern Pennsylvania near Larry’s family. 

Mabel and Larry lived in Pennsylvania until 1966 when they returned to Montana to care for Mabel’s mother after her father’s death.  Mabel taught first grade at Frazer from 1966 until 1980 when they moved to Corvallis.  Mabel then worked for a number of years at the Ravalli County Courthouse before retiring.

Mabel was active in the Lutheran Church.  She had a beautiful singing voice, loved her pets, gardening, reading, and genealogy.  She was gentle, kind, and the rock of her family, the treasure of her life.

Mabel is survived by her husband Larry of Corvallis; three sons, Larry (Joann) of Havre, Greg (Susan) of Kent, WA, David (Lori) of Minden, NV; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 9th. at the Corvallis Cemetery with Pastor Brenda Satrum officiating.
