CORVALLIS – Earl Reid Flinders, age 87, passed away early Saturday morning, November 7, 2015, at the Marcus Daly Hospital in Hamilton.

He was born on October 2, 1928, in Grantsville, Tooele, Utah, to Earl Tharby Flinders and Margaret Rydalch Worthington.

Reid graduated from high school in 1946. In 1947 he helped his father in running President J. Reuben Clark, Jr's ranch in Grantsville.  (President Clark served with three Presidents' of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as 1st and 2nd Counselor).

He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from March 6, 1951 to February 25, 1953. Reid was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, then spent 18 months in Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge from active duty.

He worked for President Clark for a while, then at the ZCMI Warehouse in Salt Lake City, Utah for 6 years. He did custom haying and hauling livestock; eventually hauling livestock full-time, owning his own truck and trailer.

Reid met and married Ona Beth Nay on December 4, 1954 in Elko, Elko, Nevada.  They were later sealed on December 7, 1963 in the Idaho Falls Temple, Idaho Falls, Idaho, as well as sealed to their children: Patrice, Shayne R., and Penny.

After Ona Beth's death, he met and married Peggy Ann Miller on July 11, 1994 in Salmon, Lemhi, Idaho.

Reid was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Ona Beth; daughter, Patrice; son, Shayne "R"; second spouse, Peggy Ann Miller; and sister, Earlene Chavez.

He is survived by his daughter, Penny (Dirk Stuart Sol) and two children Jared Dirk and Sydney Justine of Spokane, Washington; daughter-in-law, Christina Marie Jungers of Seeley Lake, Montana and son, Derek Orion of Helena, Montana (Christina is Shayne's second spouse); granddaughter, Cassandra Rae (Dustin Bradford) and children Tyson "J" and Hailey of Spokane, Washington (Cassandra is daughter from Shayne's first spouse Kelly Jean Day); sisters, Lois Huston of Enterprise, Alabama and Margaret Wirtz of Florence, Montana; brothers, James Thomas (Flora Marie Stratton) of Sandy, Utah and Jay Worthington (Peggy Ann Mccolley) of Centennial, Colorado; and many extended family members and friends.

Graveside services will full military honors will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Corvallis Cemetery.  There will be a reception following the services at the Corvallis Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
