Robert "Rob" Chapman, 59, of Corvallis passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Marcus Daly Hospital.

He was born on July 25, 1957 in Lynwood, CA, the son of Frederick and Sally Ann Chapman (Corvallis).  Rob was raised in Southern California where, as a child, spent many weekends and vacations camping and fishing, two activities he enjoyed all of his life.  Rob was a multi-talented guy.  He loved leather work, something he learned young from his Papa (grandfather), making belts and holsters, the more tooled the better.  Playing the violin/fiddle and Mandolin was a Passion of his for over 49 years.  Rob and his buddy Gary Bladen would play any venue just for the joy of the music and getting together.  Rob also enjoyed fly-tying, lying and laughter with a great group of friends every week.  In an effort to learn to use his leather machines better he took a quilting class and found that he loved piecing together fabric to make beautiful quilts for our home.  Rob loved to ATV to the beautiful places of this valley finding a fishing hole begging to be challenged, especially rewarding if caught on a fly he tied.

Rob and his wife Genie met in So. California where they started their lives together. When Genie married Rob, she also married his two beautiful children, Sarah and Jeremy, and his extended family.  In 1998, they moved to beautiful Montana where Rob said his soul felt at home.  They started a new beginning for themselves purchasing "The Kitchen" restaurant in downtown Hamilton.  Starting over was not easy, especially for being so "green" in the business, but with hard work and a stubbornness to not give up they were able to make a living doing what they both love to do.  Rob loved to cook and please his customers, many of whom became very close friends.

Rob is survived by his wife Genie; his mother, Sally Ann; daughter, Sarah and her husband, Mikeal, granddaughters, Ciera and Mikayla; his son, Jeremy and his wife, Kristina, granddaughters, Christina and Katie, and Grandsons Cody and Joshua; his brothers, Fred (Rebecca)  and Paul (Cindy); his sisters, Suzie and Julie (Cary); numerous nieces and nephews.

Rob loved his life here in the Bitterroot, loved his family and the friends who shared themselves.

The family is honoring Rob's decision to not have a public service.  The family requests that cards and wishes of condolences be sent to "The Kitchen" at 102 South Second Street, Hamilton MT 59840.
