Darby – Coby Lafayette Smith, 69, of Darby passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at his home. He was born December 10, 1949 in Hailey, Idaho, the son of the late Marcellus and Ellouise Smith.
Coby was raised a cowboy. His early years in Idaho left many stories and life lessons he passed on.
Coby moved with his family to Stevensville in his early teens and shortly thereafter moved to the Darby area. While showing his bull Hey Jude, he found time to graduate from Darby. In high school he met the love of his life, Raylene Nelson. They married July 26, 1973 and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple, soon after they started their family. He employed many people at the Peat Pac for many years.
Coby loved the Bitterroot and this was his home. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and has a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Coby is the greatest husband, father and grandfather anyone could ask for.
Coby was preceded in death by his loving parents and elder brother, Nick.
