Earl Lee Little, Jr. 78 of Hamilton passed away January 13, 2018 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice Center in Hamilton.  He was born May 15, 1939 in Seymour, Wisconsin the son of Earl A. Little, Sr. and Stella S. Little who was of Santee Sioux descendants.

Following high school graduation he attended the University of Oshkosh in Wisconsin.  Earl married Joan Krueger on August 18, 1962; the couple was married for 55 years.  He worked at a Juvenile Officer in Beaver Dam, WI.  He also worked as a part time Game Warden.  While in Wisconsin, he was a member of the WI National Guard in the 32nd Division, Red Arrow Div, and was called up during the Bay of Pigs.  From 1964 – 1965 Earl was a vendor for the State of WI at the World’s Fair.  He was an outdoor writer for local, national and international publications.  Earl worked at various fly shops in Ravalli County, MT.

 He was a member of the WI Outdoor Writers Association and the American Legion.  Earl was a member of Trout Unlimited, the Bitterroot Water Forum, Ravalli County Fish and Wildlife Association and the Hamilton Gun Club.  He was an avid dry fly fisherman and fly tier. 

Earl was preceded in death by his parents Earl Sr. and Stella Little.  He is survived by his wife, Joan of Hamilton, MT; sons, Scott Little of Hamilton, MT and Mark A. (Teresa) Little of Spooner, WI; granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Little.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Riverside Christian Center in Hamilton with Pastor Bill Peddie officiating.  Private family urn placement will take place at a later date. 

The family suggests memorials to the Bitterroot Water Forum, Trout Unlimited or MDM Hospice of the Bitterroot.
