CORVALLIS – James A. "Jim" Stanton was born on January 9th, 1929 in Long Island, NY and passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2018 with his loving wife by his side.
As a boy he played in the IBM marching band and graduated from Vestal High School. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic. Upon moving to California he married his first wife Roberta Decker and had two sons, Jeff and Brian. Jim was an airline mechanic for Western and Delta Airlines for 29 years. He loved outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, camping, and motorcycle riding. Jim was also an experienced pilot who loved to build and fly airplanes. Later he married Barbara May and gained a step-son, Scott. They were happily married for 42 years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stanton; first wife, Roberta Sampson; sons, Jeff (Wendy) Stanton and Brian (Monique) Stanton; step-son, Scott (Amy) May; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Hamilton Assembly of God Church at 11:30 A.M. There will be Military Honors at the church following the services and a reception following the Honors. The family suggests that memorials be made in Jim’s name to the Marcus Daly Hospice Center, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, MT 59840. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
