Lucille Anna (Eisele) Lind

Lucille Anna Lind passed away peacefully on May 11, 2019, a few weeks before her 100th birthday. 

Lucille was born June 4, 1919 in Central City, Nebraska, to August and Bertha Eisele.  She grew up in North Loup, Nebraska, as the youngest of 5 children.  After completing high school in 1937, she left for Washington state and lived with her sister, Grace, in Snohomish and, later, in Everett.  She loved the cooler weather and the green countryside of Washington.  She worked as a census taker and a house servant before completing beauty school and working as a beautician for 5 years. 

In 1943, she met her future husband, Jesse Allan “Al” Lind, in Everett.  Al was in the Army Air Corps stationed in Idaho.  He came to Everett as part of his B-29 crew chief training.  They were married on August 21, 1943.  They moved to Great Bend, Kansas, where Al was then stationed.  In January 1944, Al was sent to India in support of World War II’s China Burma India Theater.  Lucille moved back to live with her sister in Everett, Washington.  Their first son, Dean, was born four months later in May 1944.  Lucille soon began work at the Boeing assembly plant in Everett, where she inventoried and issued parts for the B-29 wing assembly units.  She worked there until the war ended and the plant closed in 1945.  Her husband soon returned from the war after 1½ years in the Pacific Theater.  A year later, in the spring of 1947, they moved to Hamilton, Montana and lived in a motel.  Al worked as a sawyer in the local area, and Lucille worked as a mother and homemaker.  Their second son, Larry, was born in June 1947.  When Lucille again became pregnant in 1948 they realized they needed a larger place to live and moved into a lovely house on Daly Avenue, their one and only home together.  Al later worked for the US Public Health Service and for AT&T.  Three more children were born while living in the home on Daly: Patsy, Orville, and Terry. 

After Al passed away in 1991, her sister, Grace, moved to Hamilton where they shared her house for over 16 years.  After Grace passed away in 2008, Lucille maintained the house and bountiful garden until 2014 when she moved into the Sapphire Homes in Hamilton and gracefully lived out her remaining years.  During her 70+ years in the Bitterroot Valley, she never tired of the 4 seasons, her flower and vegetable garden, and visits from her family and friends.  She was a member of the United Methodist - American Baptist Federated Church, was active in Rebecca Lodge, and loved to play pinochle, board games, and jigsaw puzzles.  She will forever be remembered for her generosity, love of life, exuberant laughter, and her cookie jar that was never empty. 

Lucille will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dean (Sandy), Fontana CA; Larry (Linda), Redwood City CA; Patsy (Rod) Miller, Middleton WI; Orville (Bonnie), Universal City TX; and Terry (Lela), Granite Falls WA. Lucille will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Brice, Khirstie, Laurie, Leanna, Kari, Jesse, and Christie, and her great-grandchild Adam. 

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Al and her siblings Muriel, Grace, Ivan, and Thomas. 

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel, 1010 W Main St, Hamilton, MT with Pastor John Duckworth officiating.  A private, family graveside committal will follow. 

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to the Marcus Daly Hospice Center.
