HAMILTON – Lucy Anne Gouse, 87, of Hamilton passed into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 surrounded by her family due to her battle with cancer.  She was born in Carlisle, PA on Aug. 19, 1930 to Wilbur and Lillian Boyer.  Lucy was the 3rd of 7 children.

Lucy was raised and graduated from high school in Pennsylvania, then attended college and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Art and Education and taught for several years.  As a cheerleader in high school she caught the eye of her future husband, Frank.  He left to serve his country in the Korean War, returned home and married Lucy on Oct. 6, 1956 and together had 3 children.

Lucy was always an adventurer who was always “up for anything”, including selling the farm in Pennsylvania, packing up the kids with the youngest only 1 year old, and heading out west to start a new life.  She embraced the western way and loved all things “Westy”.  Lucy took up riding and rode with the Mountettes, she also raised a few cattle including a longhorn heifer she became quite fond of.

Lucy loved the outdoors and was the planner of family campouts, skiing, campfire cooking, hot springs dipping and more.  She loved to ride her bike and put many miles on it with her friend and neighbor, Betty.

Lucy was a strong personality and you always knew where you stood with her.  She raised her kids to not be “a bunch of wimps” and to “love the Lord with all your hearts”.  We thank her for that.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Frank M. Gouse, Sr; son, Frank M. Gouse, Jr and wife Joni; daughters, Sally Gouse Peverley and husband Rick and Hannah Halden and husband Bill; 6 grandchildren, Chris Miller and wife Maureen, Mitchel Gouse, Jacob Gouse, Carson Halden, Bryce Halden and Addison Halden; 2 great-grandchildren, Daytona Miller and Billy Miller; and 5 siblings all of Pennsylvania.

Please join us for a pot-luck to celebrate Lucy’s life on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 at the RLP Auction Barn, 3 miles north of Hamilton on Highway 93, beginning at 4:30 P.M.  Family, friends, food and fellowship are what Lucy loved and best of all, her grandchildren.

Lucy will be greatly missed.  Rest in peace Mom.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
