Our loving mom, grandma, GG, Sister, Mimi and friend, Mary Winn Simmons, 92, of North Ogden, UT passed away of natural causes on December 31, 2018 at Seasons Assisted Living. She was born July 16, 1926 to Clifford and Nellie Simmons in Hamilton, Montana. The family lived in the Grid Creek area of Hamilton where she was educated, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1944. She was active with the Eagles Auxiliary’s Drill Team enjoying time with her future sister-in-law when they won state title. She attended Business College in Butte, Montana. She worked at Associated Seed Growers, Bitterroot Timber in Hamilton and General Electric in Idaho Falls. In 1961 she moved to Brigham City, Utah to work at Thiokol as an executive secretary until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the Travel Club and the Thiokol Retirees Club.
Her greatest enjoyment in life was her family and friends. She loved them all dearly and was always interested in their well being and staying in touch. She rarely missed Sunday dinner with her family. She also loved animals of all kinds and had many during her life.
Traveling was her favorite hobby. She took each grandchild to Hawaii for their graduation, which was a great memory for them. She traveled with friends all over the world including Russia, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia and many other exotic places. She had an abundance of friends and enjoyed spending time with them. In the past they met at J&D’s in Brigham City every Tuesday for breakfast.
She is survived by her daughter Meredith (Stephen) Leatham of Plain City, Utah and brother James (Jim) Simmons of Hamilton, Montana. Grandchildren: Stephen (Trina) Leatham Jr., Jayme (Jeromy) Cutler, and Lindsey (Ben) Carnahan. Great Grandchildren: Sidney, Avery, Ashdyn, Bode, Cash, Max, Ella, Lincoln and Lyla. Nieces: Deb (Linsey) Strickland and Anita (Jeffrey) John. Nephews: Doug (Rebecca) Simmons, Hamilton, Montana and Eric (Debora) Simmons, Stevensville, Montana.
She is preceded in death by her father, Clifford Simmons, mother Nellie Simmons, brother Clarence Simmons, nephews baby Dana and Craig Simmons. Her sister-in-law Virginia (Gena) Simmons and her life-long friend Louis Grover.
A memorial service and urn placement will take place at the Corvallis Cemetery, the 28th of May at 11:00 am.
