Naidine A. York Obituary

Naidine Alvera Peterson York went peacefully with family members by her side on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.  She was born November 26, 1922 to Carl and Myrtle (Matthews) Peterson at home in Effie, MN.  She is predeceased by her husband James York, her parents, and her only sibling, Delores Peterson Johnson.  She is survived by her daughters Kathleen Wood (John), Maureen York (Ralph), Patricia Near (Tim) and her son James York(Glenda).  8 Grandchildren Amber(Mark), Josh (Jenn), Jim (Lisa)  John, Jayson (Calee), Becky (Sean), Connie (Chris) and Drew (Lindsey) as well as 9 great-grandchildren, Bode, Annika, Ryker, Connor, Kaylee, Carter, Claire, Madison, and Adri.

Naidine served in the US Navy Pharmacy Corp during World War II, serving her basic training in the San Francisco area. Her tour in the Finger Lakes region of New York State is where she met the man she would marry in September 1946.  She worked in Missoula as a dental assistant before she and James moved their family to the Bitterroot Valley.  There she worked at Bitterroot Drug for over 20 years.

Naidine was Mother Advisor for the Corvallis Assembly Order of the Rainbow for Girls for several years during the 1960s.  She was the recipient of the Grand Cross of Color, an honorary degree for her service to that organization.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter #19 in Victor for over 55 years.  Naidine was a member of the Corvallis Methodist Church until her recent move to Missoula.

Always a den mother, she drove her children and their friends to track meets, basketball and football games, wrestling meets, cheerleading events, horse shows and fairs. She shared her talents for cooking, gardening, and cross country skiing with her grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Val Moore Scholarship Fund for Music and the Performing Arts, c/o Naomi Chapter OES, PO Box 633, Florence, MT 59833 or the charity of your choice.

Memorial service will be held at Stevensville Methodist Church under the direction of Rev. Dr. Charles Alkura on Saturday November 11th at 11am.  Refreshments following at the church.  Private interment with military honors at Corvallis Cemetery.
