Ned Trowbridge was a devoted husband, son and father.  He went peacefully home to the Lord on May 16, 2018 in Hamilton, Montana.  He was born March 12, 1940 in Salmon, Idaho.  Ned was an avid Leatherman and fisherman all his life.  He enjoyed hunting as a younger man.

Ned spent his “growing up” years in Darby, Montana with his 4 sisters and 2 brothers; Lori, Tana, Sally, Ted, Jenny and Denny.  Jenny remembers him as a good big brother.

Ned joined the Navy when he was 19.  While in the Navy he went to Adak, Alaska then to Long Beach California. He was deployed to Japan, Hawaii and to the Philippines.  While in the Navy he met the love of his life Jackie Johnson in Venice, California.  On June 16, 1963 they married while he was serving his country.

After leaving the Navy, Ned worked as a telephone installer for General Telephone and later for Glacier State Telephone companies.

Their first 3 children; Robbie, Lisa and Katie, were born in Los Angeles, California.  Their 4th child, Ron, was born in Kodiak, Alaska.  Ned went to every sporting event his children were involved in.  He also coached baseball.  He attended the many plays and choir performances that Katie took part in.

When they returned to the lower 48 they lived in California for a while then moved to Washington State.  When Ned retired they returned home to Darby where most of his family still lived.  Later they moved into Hamilton, Montana.

Ned was active in his community serving on the city council in North Pole, Alaska and Darby, Montana.  He loved plays, storytelling and teaching leatherwork to others.

Ned was preceded in death by his father Kenny and his mother Verna; his daughter Katie and Kristen his granddaughter.  Kristen was Katie’s first child.Ned is survived by his children Robert (Robbie) of Hamilton, Montana, Lisa Scott and her husband Cameron of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Ronald (Ron) of Puyallup, Washington; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his cherished wife Jackie of 54 years and 11 months.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 26, 2018 in Hamilton at Big Sky Baptist Church, 201 S 4th Street at 11:00 A.M.  Lunch will be provided following the service.  We encourage all to attend and fellowship.
