Norma Fay (Jones) Shafer

Norma Fay Shafer, 74 of Darby passed away peacefully at her home in Darby on Saturday, January 24, 2018.

Norma was born on February 6, 1943 in Alturas, CA to Clarence and Bernice Jones.  She was married to Andy Shafer on March 31, 1962 in Darby, MT.  Norma was named after an influential teacher in her father’s childhood.  Norma started working at 13, she had many jobs throughout her life, from working at local restaurants, thrift stores, security work for sawmills, and finally bartending.

Norma is survived by her sisters, Paula Horton and Laura Joslin; children, Andrea Shafer of Sun Burst, Mt. and John Shafer and wife Jen of Ft. Wayne, In; grandchildren, Mandie Falcon, Andrew Hermance, AJ Bickle; great grandchildren, Jacob and Conner Shafer, Jasmine Hontz, Amara, Kovin and Cora Falcon.

Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years; her parents, Clarence and Bernice Jones, her son, Pat Shafer and two brothers.

She lived for her family and friends and loved taking care of everyone around her.  She adored and thoroughly enjoyed seeing her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Norma got a thrill out of seeing all the kids growing up and reaching milestones and dreams achieved.  She was there emotionally and spiritually for all of life’s high and low moments.  With all the love that Norma had, she was also passionately dedicated to the Lord and was a member with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She will be missed!

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 1st at the Darby Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Private urn placement will take place at a later date.
