MISSOULA – Pearl Shaubut, 100, of Missoula passed away Friday, September 29, 2017.  She was born in St. Paul, MN and lived there with her grandmother until she was 16.  Pearl then moved to Montana to live with her mother, Madie Lachman.

At the age of 17, Pearl met and married Lawrence Shaubut.  They honeymooned and lived in Glacier National Park where Lawrence worked on the Going to the Sun Road.  After that they moved to the Clinton/Bonita area, where they raised their 2 children, May and Jean.  Lawrence and Pearl were married for 65 years and loved every minute together.

Her idea of a good time was having friends and family to dinner, drinks and visiting.  Pearl loved to cook and clean house.  Her home was spotless all the time and she was a great cook.

After Lawrence got off work, we would head to Missoula to spend time with Pearl’s mother, brothers and sister and their kids.  She loved them all very much.

In later life, Pearl had 2 very special friends, Mary Dickerman and Mary Taylor.  They had coffee, shopped and spent hours together at each other’s homes.  Pearl was also close to Sally and Glenn Hoffman.  They watched over her and spoiled her with great food and they are both wonderful cooks.

Pearl missed visiting with her caregivers, Arianne and Gladys Maki, when she moved to Darby.  She loved Christi also, her caregiver in Darby.

Pearl’s last goal in life was to live to be 100 years old.  We had mom’s 100th birthday party at the Pizza Hut on May 13 in Hamilton.  Mom was thrilled at all the friends and family who came to help her celebrate the big day.  It was all she ever dreamed of and more.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her parents; brothers, Joey, Randall and Donald Lachman; sister, Dorothy Marsh; and her cat, McKinzie.  She is survived by her children, May Nelson and husband Cliff and Jeannie Bibler; grandchildren, Lawrence (Lori) Nelson, Jet Bibler and Cristi Berry, and Melody (John) Heiland; great-grandchildren, Michael, Marie, Sarah, Heather, Brenna and Tristan; and several great-great-grandchildren.

At her request there will be a small service held at a later date.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com.
