Priscilla Peters Obituary

HAMILTON – Priscilla M. Peters, 79, passed away on Monday May 13, 2019 at the Marcus Daly Hospital.  She was born in 1939 in Elgin Illinois, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marjorie Wallace.  Priscilla was raised in Elgin.  She attended Manchester College in Indiana.  She married Richard W. Peters in 1960 in Barrington Illinois.  They resided in Algonquin Illinois, until retiring in Hamilton in 1995.

Priscilla often said that raising her children was the best part of her life.  She loved flowers, birds, calligraphy, art, creative sewing, and music, including singing and playing guitar and piano.  She served on the board for the Bitterroot Humane Association, as a spokesperson and fundraiser, thereby getting to know and love the people of Hamilton.  She was known as a good conversationalist and well-dressed person.  She showed a photo of her rescue dog, Millie, to everyone she met.  Priscilla was cheerful and faced her health struggles with humor and determination.  She was whimsical by nature, tempered with a no-nonsense attitude.

Her favorite poem is by Emily Dickenson:

Hope is a thing with feathers–

That perches in the soul–

And sings the tune without words–

And never stops – at all.

Priscilla is survived by her husband, Richard of Hamilton; one daughter, Kathleen Issen and husband Marshall Issen of Potsdam, New York; and one son, Jeffery Peters and wife Pamela Peters of McHenry Illinois.  The family thanks Marcus Daly Rehabilitation Center for their professional care and personal friendship.
