Raymond kaltenbach Obituary

HAMILTON - On Wednesday, February 14th, 2018, Raymond Walter Kaltenbach passed away peacefully at home in Hamilton, Montana.

Ray was born on September 9th, 1935 in Denver, Colorado, and his parents were Paul and Laura Kaltenbach.  He spent most of his childhood in Colorado, graduating from North High School in 1953.  He studied Forestry at Fort Collin's Colorado A&M (now known as Colorado State University) in 1957.  Ray was also a member of the ROTC and went into the United States Army Reserves in 1958.

He worked for the state of Minnesota, stationed in Black Duck.  Ray went to work for the Bureau Land Management (BLM) where he was first stationed in Eugene, Oregon, then Fairbanks, Alaska, to Kingman, Arizona, and finally Anchorage, Alaska.  Ray retired from the BLM and Army Reserve in 1986 as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Ray moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was both a long haul truck driver and bus driver.  He then moved to Logandale, Nevada, and worked for a dairy farm and nursery.  It was in August of 2002 when he married Darlene Gamboa.  They both moved together to the Bitterroot Valley in May of 2005.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Andrew, Paul, and Bernita.

Ray enjoyed traveling the country and during his life in the Bitterroot, loved visiting his neighbors.  He will be missed by his wife, Darlene; his step-children, Michael Gamboa, Michelle Jones, and Leslie Carpenter and their children who all called him "Grandpa Ray".
