DARBY – Richard “Rick” Caizza, 69, of Darby went peacefully to join the Lord on June 21, 2017.  Rick was surrounded by his loving family in his home.  He passed on doing the one thing he never missed, watching his Seattle Mariners, who went on to win 7 – 5.

Rick was born December 31, 1947 to Philip and Isabelle Caizza in Hamilton, MT.  He was raised in Darby by his mother after his father, Philip, passed away when Rick was still a baby.  He attended Darby High School and loved his community.

In 1968, Rick was drafted into the United States Army and sent to Vietnam where he proudly served his country.  After returning home he met the woman he would spend the rest of his life loving and cherishing, his wife, Susan Caizza.  They would eventually bring three beautiful daughters into the world, Stacey, Shawna and Samantha.

Throughout Rick’s life he worked at various lumber mills as a saw filer.  He loved his work and was devastated at the closure of Stoltz and Darby Lumber.  These closures would eventually send him to Washington in 1999 where he worked at Reicherts Shake and Fence until retiring home to Darby in 2005.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Philip Caizza; his mother, Isabelle Vaughn; and his dear sister, Norma Flammond.  He is survived by his loving wife, Susie Caizza of Darby; 3 daughters, Stacey Luedecke and husband Mike of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; Shawna Disterhaupt and husband Aaron of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, and Samantha Caizza of Newport, OR; 3 brothers, Tom Caizza and wife Ginny, Sam Caizza and wife Jackie and Chuck Molenda and wife Susie; and his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Darby (107 Tincup Rd, Darby) with graveside services with full military honors following at Lone Pine Cemetery in Darby.  There will be a reception following the graveside services back at the church.

The family suggests that memorial be made in Rick’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
