Robert L. Roy

HAMILTON - Robert L. Roy, 86, of Hamilton, Montana, died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at home surround by his loving family.  He was born December 8, 1929, in Glasgow, Montana, the third of five sons and two daughters of Francis Peter and Caroline Josephine Dascher Roy. On August 8, 1950, he married Ramona Tanner, who survives. Bob graduated from Hamilton High School in 1949.

“Bob”, as he was affectionately called, worked at the Rocky Mountain Laboratory as a youth and the U.S. Forest Service. Later, he was employed many years with the Montana Power Company, until he bought the first of two truck lines, Ravalli Motor Freight and Fortman Truck Line which he successfully ran for many years here in the Bitterroot Valley. After retirement, he could be found in his garden which drew local attention, and travelling as a family historian.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ramona Roy of Hamilton, MT and their children: Allen Roy, Marcia R. Roy, Kim Roy Janes, DeLis Roy Olsen, David Roy and Brian Roy. He was the grandfather of twelve grandchildren, scattered throughout the United States, and 24 awesome great-grandchildren. His brother, Gene Roy of Great Falls, MT also survives him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 5:30 until 7:00 P.M. at the Daly-Leach Chapel.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:30 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS 401 S 8th St, Hamilton, MT. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Hamilton, MT.
