Corvallis – Russel Eugene Feister, Sr. 78 of Corvallis passed away May 17, 2018 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
He was born December 8, 1939 in Ephrata, Pennsylvania to Fred Milton and Mae Elizabeth Kiehl Feister. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. He worked as a Semi-Truck Driver from Coast to coast. While driving he fell in love with the Bitterroot Valley. Russel married the one and only love of his life, Patti (Patricia Ann Christian) on November 2, 1963. Russel moved to Montana in 1973 to attend the Erv Malnarich Outfitting and Guide School. He owned High Lonesome Outfitters in Corvallis for years. Russel worked for the City of Hamilton in the Water and Sewer Department, later becoming the Supervisor of the City Street Dept. He retired after 25 years with the city (1974 – 2000).
He was a life member of the Whittecar Rifle and Pistol Range. He was also a proud life member of the NRA. Russel was an avid gun collector and outdoorsman. He loved the mountains.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patti on their 43rd wedding anniversary; mother, Mae Kiehl Feister; father, Fred Feister.
Russel is survived by his son, Russel (Syndi) Feister Jr. of Florida; daughter, Angie (Scott) Boelman of MT; grandsons, Travis Feister of OH., Casey (Brittany) Raines of NY., and Levi Raines of MT; numerous great grandchildren.
Private family urn placement will take place at a later date.
