Sally Kimp Obituary

HAMILTON – Sally Ann Kimp, 78, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Discovery Care Centre in Hamilton, MT.  She was born June 28, 1940 in Priest River, ID the daughter of Glen and Agnes Haskin.

Sally was raised and educated in Idaho and Washington.  After high school she continued with her Art studies.

Sally was a self taught sculptor.  Her early years were spent in the Pacific Northwest.  Born in a log cabin north of Priest River, her love of the outdoors and the simple beauty of nature was reflected in the smooth flowing lines of her art.  Sally spent her youth sketching and painting.  It was after taking a night school pottery class that she found her medium in clay and created her “Little People” sculptures made of clay retrieved from the banks of Priest River.  A love of Native American Culture brought Sally to Prescott, AZ in 1987 where her stone fired clay and bronze sculptures of the Navajo and Hopi people have gained her critical acclaim.  The simple form of her work and sympathetic portrayal of the subject matter with emphasis on inner spirit have led to several one woman shows as well as being showcased in Art galleries in places such as Santa Fe, NM, Cannon Beach, OR, Sedona and Scottsdale, AZ.

Sally was preceded in death by Glen and Agnes Haskin; sister, Faye Turner; and brothers, Arnold and Vern Haskin.  She is survived by her son, Kevin Kimp, born in 1962; daughter, Kristal Snowman, born in 1963; and her grandchildren, Shawn Kimp, Christopher Snowman and Melissa Kimp.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
