Wade Evans Obituary

VICTOR - Wade Evans of Victor, MT passed away at his home on December 1, 2018 at the age of 69 from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born Wade Patrick Evans on September 2, 1949 in Chico, California to Art and Louise Evans.

Wade was raised on a farm in the fields of the Sacramento Valley (that is Northern California, back when there was still a difference). There he quickly learned he preferred being behind fine double barrels and black labs rather than on top of cab-less yellow tractors.

Pastoral life ended abruptly following graduation from high school. He did stints as a hotshot firefighter out of Redmond, Oregon and then volunteered for the army serving as an M.P. in Germany.

Later he would attend California State University Chico, Eastern Washington University, and Southern Oregon University and cover a small wall with degrees in American Studies, Journalism, and Education. He worked as a reporter (receiving numerous awards for his work), writer, teacher, and in private business.

He strongly believed in diversity, getting his whiskey from Canada and his beer from Mexico. He tried mightily to not take things too seriously, especially himself. He had lifelong wonderful and masterful sense of humor.

Wade was an exceptional athlete and loved most sports. He enjoyed good books, good beer and had an affinity for dogs. His constant companions ranged from hound dogs to pound dogs, as well as AKC - he loved them all. In addition to his passion for reading, writing and dogs, he was intensely enthusiastic for all things outdoors: hiking, hunting, fishing, Harleys, quads, old jeeps, gravel roads, campfires, and the Fall.

Wade wrote that the "best part of life was his wife and partner, his profound love of 44 years, Carolyn 'Carrie' Evans". As he put it, she was his “blessing, redemption, and the love of his life - nothing compared”.

Wade is preceded in death by his parents and niece Julie Howard.  He is survived by his wife Carrie, his sister Sue Symons (Randy),his nephew Jeff Howard (Rosannalyn), and several nieces and nephews.

At Wade’s request, no formal services will be held.
