Wayne Mortensen Obituary

Orson Wayne Mortensen passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Wayne was born on March 2, 1940 in Dayton, Idaho to Gwen and Orson Mortensen.  The family moved to the Bitterroot Valley in 1948 where Wayne attended school in Hamilton and then began working for Rosecrans' Ham-Mont Eggs. After 20 years at the chicken farm, he went to work for Ravalli County Electric as an equipment operator retiring from there in 2002.

Wayne married Audrey Robbins on July 6, 1964 and they welcomed son Brian in 1968 and son Mark in 1970. Wayne loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with the boys, as well as skiing and snowmobiling.  In his later years he enjoyed going on ATV rides and spending the winters in Arizona.

Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, father and sisters JoAnn , Brookie and Sue.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audrey; sons, Brian (Becky) of Alaska and Mark (Marianne) of Corvallis; brothers, Jack (Lotti) Mortensen of Missoula, Paul (Amy) Mortensen of  Mesa, Arizona; sisters, Carma (Bob) Vanderpass of Florence, Marsha (Jim) Waliser of Hamilton and Anita (Tim) Driscoll of Corvallis; sister-in law Judy Mason; and lots of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Wayne.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday August 26, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel with a reception immediately following at the funeral home’s community room.
