After losing his wife Lois to ALS in 1991, he met and married Terry Wolfe in 1994.  He and Terry later adopted her Grandchildren and began raising a second family.

William was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his father Willy and mother, Thelma (Zoske), and brothers, Harold and Marvin Wetzsteon.  Surviving are his wife Terry and adopted daughter Katie and son Nick of the home in Corvallis, sons Richard William Wetzsteon (Michele) of Bellingham, WA, and Joseph William Wetzsteon (Mary) of Hamilton, daughter Karen Fifield (Bob) of Corvallis, seven Grandchildren- William Charles Fifield, Robert Christopher Fifield (Donna), Adam William Wetzsteon, Kirstin Elizabeth Wetzsteon Stritzel, Shannon Leigh Wetzsteon, Kara Gwen Wetzsteon, and Blaine William Wetzsteon and one Great Granddaughter-Locea Mae Fifield.  Also left behind is his lifelong best friend Gene Henderson of Darby or as William referred to him “The Old Guy”.
