Charlie was born in Branson Missouri, the eldest of five sons born to James and Christine King. As a child, Charlie moved with his family to the Courtland CA area, graduating from Courtland HS in 1953. After serving in the Marine Corp Reserves, Charlie met and married the love of his life, Pat, and together they raised five children. Charlie became a deputy with the Yolo County Sheriff's Office in 1957. During his 31 years of service, he worked several years on detective detail and as bailiff for the East Yolo Municipal Court. His years with law enforcement gave him many lifelong friends and enough stories to entertain his family for years. When he retired in 1988, he and Pat moved to Darby Montana where they thoroughly enjoyed the wide open spaces of that big sky country.
Charlie will always be remembered for his fierce love of family, friends and his four-legged companions. He was an avid fan of the SF Giants and 49's and never missed an opportunity to celebrate or commiserate with others, depending on their performance. Charlie will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Pat, daughters Debby (Larry), Barbara (Dennis) and Renee, son Michael, brother Bob (Linda), several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many friends he leaves behind. Although he joins his parents, brothers and son John, his absence here on earth will leave us with an emptiness in our hearts every day. As the Tin Man was told in Oz, "A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others". By this measure, there was no limit to Charlie's heart.
At his request, no services will be held. Special remembrances may be made to your local animal shelter.
