HAMILTON - A. William (Bill) Kindzerski, 86, of Hamilton passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. He was born May 23, 1929 in Scobey, MT to Mary Mymka and John E. Kindzerski.
Bill grew up working the family farm outside of town. He graduated from Scobey High School in 1948. That fall he enrolled in college at Montana State University in Bozeman. After a 2 year enlistment in the Army, he returned to MSU to finish his education. A lifelong Bobcat fan, Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education and served on the Alumni Board for 4 years. He later earned his Master’s Degree in Physics from New Mexico Highland’s University.
In 1957, he moved to White Sulphur Springs to begin his teaching career. It was there he met his bride of 54 years, Virginia Snow. Bill and Virginia were married on July 16, 1961 in Hamilton. They moved to Fort Benton that fall to teach. Bill enjoyed a successful career teaching, driving bus, and managing concessions, He taught Math, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science until his retirement in 1993. In 1998, Bill and Virginia retired in Hamilton.
Bill was an active member in his community who devoted countless hours the Choteau Cty Fairgrounds, Fort Benton Ag Museum, Upper Missouri Wilderness Waterway Cruise Co., Daly Mansion and Five Valley’s Accordion club. He was a member and past president of Kiwanis. He enjoyed dancing, ice fishing, and hiking. Throughout his life, Bill found his greatest enjoyment outdoors in his garden. Each year, he started many of his plants inside when there was still snow on the ground and carefully cared for them until fall. Gardening eventually led him to Cook’s Garden where he worked for the last 13 years.
Survivors include his wife Virginia of Hamilton; daughter Jane (Lynn "Skeeter") Mason of Hamilton, sons Mike of Lewistown, MT, and Allen (Valerie) of Auburn, WA. Grandchildren; Seth, Colter, Anilynn, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Nathan, Kasey, and Daniel. Brother Stanley (Mary Ellen) and sister Elizabeth. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton with graveside and military honors at Hamilton Riverview Cemetery. A reception will follow at Daly-Leach Chapel.
