Heaven opened up and welcomed another angel home. Ada Powell, a long time Bitterooter, passed away on Tuesday March 20, 2012 at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Helena surrounded by family and friends.
Genealogy and history were among her favorite passions in life. Ada wrote many published books about Hamilton and the Marcus Daly Mansion. Through her diligence, Ada often found facts others presumed were lost over time.
Ada and her late mother Lavern Vance traveled on many adventures across the V.S to antique bottle shows. Both would proudly display the many ribbons obtained and share memories with family and friends.
Ada was always willing to share a story of her and her late husband, Jack, overseas and cross country trips or offer a bit of advice to those who stopped by her room for a chat.
Her friendly rivalry with other residents during Bingo brought a smile to all those who knew her.
Ada is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Laverne Vance, and her husband of 52 years, Jack L. Powell.
Among those missing her are sons Lee (Kathy) Powell of Grantsdale, Mt., Jack (Judy) Powell of Belgrade Mt., and Bill (Janice) Powell of Helena Mt. Grandchildren Stacey and Roy and many great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Krainacker, the staff of RMCC (where she made many friends the past five years) and hospice of St. Pete's for providing compassionate end of life care.
