HAMILTON - Alice M. Rose, 91, of Hamilton died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Discovery Care Center where she had resided for the past 4 years.
Mrs. Rose was born May 20, 1920, in Butte to Alfred and Marie Colvin. She graduated from Helena High School in 1936 and in 1940 she graduated with honors from the University of Montana in Missoula with a BA Degree in Bacteriology. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
She married Clement A. Rose of Dickinson, ND, on June 4, 1940. They were married 51 years when he passed away in 1991. They lived in Miles City before moving to Hamilton in 1942 where they lived for 21 years. During their years in Hamilton, Mrs. Rose was a homemaker but worked part-time for many years for Hydropoint Engineering Company. She was active in AAUW, Sodality, served many years as a Girl Scout Leader, and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
In 1963, Mr. Rose, who was employed by the Soil Conservation Service was transferred to Polson. During her 40 years in Polson, Mrs. Rose was active in the Montecahto Club; she was a member of a kitchen band, served for many years as an election judge and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Both she and her husband were avid outdoors persons. She lived in Polson until 2000 when she returned to Hamilton.
Mrs. Rose is survived by her three children, Joan Rose of Cascade; Michael Rose (Virginia) of Corvallis; and Patricia Hillis (Jerry) of Mountlake Terrace, WA; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
