Alma Rue Adams
Hamilton - Alma Rue Adams died October 30, 2010, of natural causes at the Sapphire Lutheran Home in Hamilton, MT. Alma was born, at home, to Thorvald and Gertrud Rue of Minot, ND. November 9, 1911. She had a younger brother, Leonard Rue, of Great Falls MT, and a younger sister, Doris McMillan of Eagle Point OR. Alma loved the outdoors and as a little girl would often be found walking to the local river park to play. She studied piano and organ, and often performed on the radio. She also studied business and earned an associate degree from Minot State Business College.
Alma met Felix Adams on the tennis courts in Minot and they were eventually married on December 16, 1939. They lived for a short time in Mohall ND, then Steele ND and eventually settled in Bowbells, ND. where they lived for nearly 50 years while raising their family. They both enjoyed the outdoors, and were fortunate to be able to take many summer camping trips with their children, to visit family and the national parks.
Once Felix fully retired, they moved to Billings MT, where they continued their love of square dancing and family. Alma was very active with Peace Lutheran Church crafting quilts for oversea families and mending clothing for the residents of St. John's Lutheran Home. After Felix died, May 16 1999, Alma moved to Sapphire Lutheran Home and Assisted Living in Hamilton in 2004.
Alma had three children, Larry Adams of Ahwahnee, CA. Tom Adams of Cupertino, CA. and DeDe Adams of Hamilton, MT. She had 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Alma lived a full and loving life and will always be remembered fondly by those who shared her life with her.
A brief ceremony for family and Sapphire staff was held at the time of her death. Cremation followed and family will gather again for a burial ceremony when she will join Felix in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings, MT. Memorials may be sent to Sapphire Lutheran Homes Assisted Living, 501 N. 10th St., Hamilton, MT 59840.
