Alyce Anne Kasarda, 71, of Corvallis, MT, died on May 22, 2024 at her home.
Alyce was born in Seattle, Washington on May 18, 1953 to Antoinette and Red Kimble. She was blessed with an adventurous spirit from a young age. As a child in the late 1950s, she played on Interstate 5 while it was being constructed in North Seattle. After high school, Alyce set off to Alaska and worked in the galley on a fishing boat. In addition to becoming an amazing cook, she became almost unbeatable at cribbage.
She eventually moved back to Washington, where she married Steven Kasarda in 1981. They welcomed daughter Amy in 1982. In 1989, Alyce and Steve moved to Long Beach, Washington, where they started a plant nursery business. Alyce was gifted with an amazing green thumb, and could make anything grow beautifully.
Once Amy was raised, Alyce’s adventurousness could once again be fulfilled. In the subsequent years she lived briefly in California, Alaska and Washington. She also spent 17 years in Arizona, where she met her life partner, Bobby Bell. After Bobby’s death in 2020, Alyce set off on her final adventure and made her way to Corvallis, Montana, where she lived her last years.
Alyce was preceded in death by her life partner Bobby Bell, her mother Antoinette Elrod, and her brother David Young. She is survived by her brother Mark Young of Bothell, Washington, daughter Amy Diaz of Ellensburg, Washington, step-brother Fred Schauer of Shoreline, Washington, and step-brother Renny Schauer of Kennewick, Washington.
