LOLO - Andrew "Andy" Stephen Crawford, 74, of Lolo died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 of cancer.
Andy was born in Havre, MT to Ted and Hazel Crawford on October 30, 1937, he joined his older sister Sylvia. Andy was raised in the small highline town of Gildford, MT.
He graduated high school in Gildford and was drafted into the Army in 1960. He was stationed in Ulm, Germany, and worked as a medic and truck driver, and it is also where he met his wife Ingrid. They were married in Montana in 1962, and had three children, Steve, Renate and Kim.
Andy worked in Montana, Wyoming and Nevada over the years, first as a carpenter, then in later years as a truck driver. He enjoyed his work and had a great sense of humor. Andy also enjoyed driving and fussing over his classic cars, a 1951 Dodge, and a 1958 Dodge. He drove in many parades and the first time he received a blue ribbon for his 1958 Dodge, he got a gleam in his eye and was hooked. He enjoyed his retirement, but poor health in the last couple of years limited his activities.
Andy was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, and his parents. He is survived by his three children, Stephen Crawford of Nevada, Renate (Crawford) Walser and her husband Mike, and his youngest, Kimberly Crawford of Lolo. Andy also leaves behind two grandsons, Ryan and Andy Walser of Washington. Also surving him is his sister, Sylvia Osterbauer of Hamilton, and neices and a nephew. His loss will leave a hole in our hearts and our lives. He will be greatly missed.
The family wants to extend its thank you's to the VA of Missoula, St Patrick Hospital and Hospice of Missoula, all three of which made his passing much easier on us. Dad, rest in peace.
