HAMILTON - Anne Marie (Foley) Fryberger, 87, of Hamilton passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Discovery Care Centre in Hamilton, MT. Mom was born October 17, 1924 in Anaconda, MT.
She earned her degree in Elementary Education at The Normal School in Dillon, and got her first teaching job in Stevensville. Mom married Alan Fryberger in June of 1947. They moved to Mossyrock, WA where mom taught first grade and dad taught band and choir K-12. They made many wonderful friends there and thanks to mom's hostess skills, many of the faculty parties were held at our house. In addition, many large family gatherings and holiday meals were shared in their wonderful big home. Mom especially loved the house in Mossyrock because all of her kids, (6 of us) were born while they lived there.
In 1972 they moved to Cathlamet, WA where dad continued to teach and mom did many different things including tutoring, child care, sewing and alterations, and continuing to be the best grandma ever.
In 2007 dad passed away, and soon after mom moved to Hamilton to live with daughter Mary and her husband Rick. Mom made many new friends in Hamilton and always had something nice to say about everyone. She enjoyed going to church at St. Francis and attending the fish fry dinners there.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Winnie Foley; her brothers, Jim, Pat and Bobby Foley; and her husband of 60 years, Alan. She is survived by her six children, Jeanne Fryberger Vote (Larry) of St. Mary's City, MD, Patsy Fryberger Callaghan (Kevin) of Yakima, WA, Mary Fryberger Borden (Rick) of Hamilton, MT, Kaye Fryberger Marshall (Steve) of Bellingham, WA, Julie Fryberger of Hamilton, MT, and James Fryberger of Cathlamet, WA; eleven grandchildren, Micah, Dominic and Olivia Vote, Ian and Ellen Callaghan, Staci, Jenni and Richie Borden, Tyler, Nicolas and Brian Marshall; and eight great-grandchildren including baby Blakelee Anne, who was named after her great-grandma.
Mom was truly a remarkable teacher in the classroom and out. She loved to read and she shared that with her students and her family. Mom loved flowers, music and most of all laughter. We will miss her. We would like to thank the people of the Memory Care Unit at Discovery Care Centre for the wonderful care they gave our Mom.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Hamilton Players (100 Rickets Road, Hamilton, MT 59840), the Bitterroot Community Band (121 B Turner St., Stevensville, MT 59870), or to the charity of the donor's choice.
