Darby

To know Anthony “Antone” Martin Lopez was to know love, laughter, friendship, happiness, and genuine care. Born on September 22, 1992, in Pomona, California to Terri Jo Townsend and Martin O. Lopez, he lived life with everything he had and lived it his way which was “all speed and no control.” He had a genuine love for people and would try to help anyone he knew, or even strangers, to better themselves in any way possible. Anthony brought light into every room he entered with a smile that would change your bad day to good or your good day to great. On October 21, 2025, Anthony passed away in his home in Darby, Montana.

A proud high school graduate who worked from home at an accelerated speed to receive his high school diploma, he started college at 16 to major in psychology but later realized that psychology wasn’t the right fit. He knew he enjoyed working with people so he eventually decided to build a career in the hospitality industry at a “little store” you might know as Starbucks. Anthony combined intellect with heart in his newfound passion and that is what made him a success in that organization for 15 years, moving from a barista to a multi-store manager. Many who worked alongside him credit their own success to his mentorship and encouragement.

Whether brewing a perfect cup of coffee as “Mr. Starbucks”, or as “Uncle Tony” guiding his nieces and nephews with his unique and wonderful sense of humor and love through life’s ups and downs. He knew how to treat others, he would tell his mom, its simple “treat others how you would want to be treated.” He showed this through giving back to many different organizations within his community and spreading happiness to many. With that philosophy he moved up the Starbucks ladder very quickly. His energy was contagious and created connections that lasted far beyond introductions.

In his 33 years of living Anthony had done more and experienced things that most people have only dreamt of doing. At age 14 he was invited to Los Angeles to be one of the first people to play a new add on to World of Warcraft, which is a very popular online game. He got invited because he was amazing at it. Anything he set his mind to he would accomplish. Anthony loved seeing new places and loved traveling. He was lucky that he was able to travel to Europe, visiting London, France, and Amsterdam. When he came home, he had many stories and photographs for his family and friends to listen to and to look at.

Anthony is preceded in death by his grandma April Heyrend, Aunt Michelle "Missi" Townsend, Cousin Brandilynn (Brandi) Letzig and four great-grandparents. He is survived by his mother Terri Townsend‑Brewer, his grandfather and grandmother Larry “Pop” and Janice Townsend, his sister Amanda and her husband Robert Cochran, along with his four beloved nieces and nephews: Sarah, April, Emily, Elijah and Zachary, and his caring partner Mike of 12 years.

Friends and family will celebrate his life on Thursday, October 30th at 2:00 p.m. at the Daly‑Leach Chapel with a reception following the service. Memorials may be made to the "Darby High School” for the Anthony Lopez Scholarship Fund so Anthony’s spirit of giving can continue to shape other young people’s future lives. Private family urn placement will take place at Lone Pine Cemetery in Darby.
