Anthony "Tony" Mavros

Hamilton - Anthony "Tony" Mavros, 84 of Hamilton passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital.
Anthony John Mavros was born in the wee hours of the morning in Butte, Montana on September 14, 1925. He was delivered by his maternal grandmother at the family home. Tony had three brothers and a sister.
Tony attended elementary school in Butte until the age of 9. His family moved to Grantsdale and he attended Grantsdale Elementary. He graduated from Hamilton High School and immediately joined the US Navy on January 18, 1944 at the age of 19.
Tony served in the Pacific theatre on a destroyer and surprisingly found a high school classmate, Ernie Osborn, aboard his ship. He served two years in the Navy as a Fireman First Class and was honorably discharged on April 19, 1946
Tony and his wife Anna "Ann" Mavros have been married for 61 years. He was employed at the Rocky Mountain Lab for 37 years, where he was trained and worked as a research scientist until his retirement. He worked as a Bus Driver for Royal Printz at Printz Transportation for 7 years and then for Matt Schultz at M/S Transportation for 16 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sharon Lee Mavros (Lepo) and his brother, Max Mavros.
He is survived by his wife Ann of the family home in Hamilton; sons, James of McCall, ID., and Micheal of Butte, MT.; sister, Genny (Bob) Dickerson; brothers, Lee Mavros and Art Mavros and his sister-in-law , Wanda Mavros; numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his requests he has been cremated and no services are planned, so take that time to be with your loved ones. For those who knew him, no explanation is necessary. For those who didn't know him, no explanation is possible.
Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
