Anthony B. "Tony" Backer

CORVALLIS - Anthony B. "Tony" Backer, 67, of Corvallis passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital. He was born February 1, 1947 in San Diego, CA the son of Harry James and Evelyn (Powell) Backer.
Tony graduated from Monta Vista High School in San Diego where he excelled at football and baseball. He then attended San Diego City College graduating with his degree in transportation. Tony ran the transportation dept. for Price Club in California for many years. His favorite job was being a fishing guide until retiring in 1999.

Tony was very active in the Mountain View Wesleyan Church in Hamilton where he served on the board. One of his greatest enjoyments was fishing and he was a life long fish slayer.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Suzanne Backer of Corvallis; his son, Jeff Backer and his wife Tammy and their 3 sons, Josh, Kaleb and Jeremy Backer all of Stevensville; his daughter, Olivia Mahedy and her husband Mike and their 2 children, Devan and Nicholas all of Tracy, CA; and 2 brothers, Harry Backer and his wife Linda of Mission Beach, CA and Mike Backer of East Salton Sea, CA.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Backer, Josh Backer, Kaleb Backer, Jeremy Backer, Nicholas Mahedy, John Pendleton, Harry Backer and Mike Mahedy.
