HAMILTON - Arlys J. (Hoffman) Hatfield, 87, went to be with her Savior out of pain on November 29, 2015. She suffered from lung cancer and passed away at Marcus Daily Memorial Hospice at 7:15 pm on Sunday. She was born to Edgar and Minnie Fransen on June 4, 1928 in Summit, SD. Arlys graduated high school in Deadwood, SD. She married Dewey Hoffman on July 28, 1946 in Whitewood, SD.
Dewey and Arlys were avid square dancers. They were blessed with four children, Susan in 1947, Sally in 1950, Jeff in 1953, and Joan in 1956. The family moved to Hamilton, MT in 1961. Nearly ten years after the family moved Dewey passed in 1973. Later on Arlys married Burt Hatfield. They bought, owned, and ran the Stevensville Wash and Dry for many years. Arlys also ran the Fabric Shed in Hamilton with her daughter, Sally Dickerson. Arlys was a member of the Methodist Church in Stevensville. She also worked for JC Penny’s for many years and was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star. Arlys was very grateful for her family. She loved and she was very proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She never missed anything that any of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren were involved in. Including basketball games, volleyball games, track meets, band concerts, etc. Her most precious gift was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. We all miss her dearly but know we will see her again in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Arlys is preceded in death by husbands, Dewey Hoffman and Burl Hatfield; daughter, Sally Dickerson; and brothers, Howard and Harold Fransen.
Her survivors include children, Susan Dickerson of Hamilton, Jeff (Dianne) Hoffman of Hamilton and Joan Brewer of Kenai, AK; grandchildren, Gail Boulter of Lewistown, Patrick Dickerson of Hamilton, Debbe Dickerson of Stevensville, Steven Dickerson of Hamilton, Eric Marshall, Jimmy Brewer, Joshua Brewer and Jackie Brewer all of Kenai, AK; great-grandchildren, Haley and Payton Tillotson, Evan Dickerson, Jeremy Boulter, Vinncent Dickerson, Julia and Jack Battisti, Angela, Alyssa and Jaxson Nunley, Duasian Pato, Liliana Brewer, Shane Mason, and James Brewer.
