Arthur Cannon Gregr

HAMILTON - Arthur Cannon Gregr, 84, of Hamilton passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 at his son's home in Gold Creek, MT. He was born April 28, 1927 in San Francisco, CA the son of Odland A. and Regina (Cannon) Gregr.

Art was raised in Los Angeles, CA where he was an alter boy at Precious Blood Catholic Church. After his family moved to Taft, CA, Art attended Taft High School. He then enlisted into the U.S. Navy on February 10, 1945 and served until his honorable on July 17, 1946. Art continued to serve with the Naval Reserves until July of 1954.

Art attended Taft College. He married Vonda Lee Hammond on September 1, 1951 and she preceded him in death in March of 2000. Art and his family from California to Montana in 1995.

Art spent his life as an outside salesman and manager for several companies including Standard Oil and Clemson Brothers. After retiring from SigAlarm he continued as a consultant and expert witness for the company.

Art married Marian Crowe in February of 2006 in Hamilton. Art was a lifelong Catholic and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as a Montana State Deputy for Knight of Columbus, was a Master of the Fourth Degree and served as Grand Knight. Art was also very instrumental in getting the Knights involved in supporting the Montana Special Olympics. He also served as Exalted Ruler for the Elks Club in Hamilton.

Art was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Marian of Hamilton; 2 children, Leah Newcomb and husband Fred of Las Vegas, NV and Brett Gregr and wife Karin of Gold Creek; 3 step-children, Deborah, Jeffrey and Lynn Crowe; grandchildren, Sara Ballew, Jason Ballew, LT JG Trevor Dimarco, Madison Dimarco and Chase Gregr; and great-grandchildren, Ace and Zoey Figatta.
