Barbara Jane Boatwright

Barbara Jane Boatwright passed away on January 14, 2014 of complications related to Alzheimer's Disease. Born on October 19, 1935 to C. Edward Sibley and Jane Forbes Sibley (nee Kelly) in Holliston, Massachusetts, Barbara was joined by her sister, Charlotte Elaine Sibley on June 11, 1946. Barbara graduated Natick High School in Natick, Massachusetts in 1953. She married John T. Boatwright of Fairbault, Minnesota, on September 10, 1955.
After returning from Germany where John served in the Signal Corps and Barbara worked for the refugee investigation division of the CID, they moved to Loveland, Colorado.
In 1967, they moved to Hopkinton, New Hampshire, where they lived for 40 years.
During this time, Barbara volunteered with numerous local and regional organizations including: Special Education, Harold Martin School Library, Hopkinton Schools, Town of Hopkinton Parks and Recreation, as well as Clerk and Elections Department, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She was also active in many other volunteer projects. She could often be seen driving her signature VW Bus, with any number of children (the record was sixteen) to and from sporting and musical events. She attended every sporting event in support of her children.
Music was always central to Barbara's life. She played the piano throughout her life, gaining her passion from her grandmother Frances Sibley. She spent hours accompanying her children to help them prepare for music competitions. She especially enjoyed the Metropolitan Opera Broadcasts on public radio on Saturdays. She and John also enjoyed Minnesota Orchestra live performances and broadcasts, and endowed a chair for the Orchestra.
She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed every prom dress for her children, and wedding dresses for her children and her sister.
In 2010, John and Barbara moved to Hamilton, Montana to be closer to their grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, sister Charlotte Sibley (Leif Magnusson), children, Laurie S. Boatwright, Celeste Boatwright Grace (Eric), Charles Edward Boatwright, Jennifer Boatwright Lint (Randy) and grandchildren Owen MacNeal Lint and Ellie Sibley Lint.
