HAMILTON - Barbara Kay Collar, 72, beloved wife and mother, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Marcus Daly Hospice Center from ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease. She was born July 6, 1940 in Decatur, IN the daughter of Millard Oral and Helen Catherine (Uhrick) Diehl.
Barbara was raised and educated in Ft. Wayne, IN. She graduated from North Side High School in 1958. Barbara married Larry E. Collar on September 14, 1958 in Ft. Wayne. Together they moved with their 2 year old son, Jeffrey, to California in 1961. Barbara attended Fresno State University and graduated with honors earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business. She worked at Fresno State University in the President's office until retiring in 1998.
Barbara and Larry enjoyed their retirement together and eventually relocated to Hamilton, MT in 2004. Barbara's greatest enjoyments were her family and animals. She also enjoyed gardening; especially landscaping their retirement home.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry of Hamilton; her son, Jeffrey Collar and Lisa Boag of Fresno, CA; 2 granddaughters, Samantha Kay Collar and Rayann Crystal Collar both of Fresno; her sister, Pamela Sparks and husband Jim of Upland, CA; her brother, Rick Diehl of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
