Barbara 'Bobbie' Weeks De Haan

VICTOR - Bobbie De Haan, 93, of Victor died Jan. 24, 2011, of causes incident to age and Alzheimer's disease. Bobbie lived most of her life in Ogden, Utah, but made many friends in the Bitterroot since she moved here in 2004, especially on her many walks along Meridian Road south of Victor.

She loved natural beauty in all its forms, and would walk, ski or hike whenever she could even into her 90s. To know Bobbie was to love her, and she loved everyone back, especially her many helpers in the later years and her Grand Dog Sasha.

Born Sept. 4, 1917, in Ogden to Otis and Edith Wolcott Vaille Weeks, Bobbie graduated from Ogden High in 1934 and Smith College (Massachusetts) in 1938 with a bachelors degree in music. She married Monie De Haan on May 26, 1947 in Ogden "because I was the only girl he knew who liked to hike and ski."

A talented pianist, Bobbie loved music and retained the ability to pick out a tune on the piano from someone humming or whistling it, long after much else was forgotten. She was proud of her early involvement with the ski area Snowbasin, Utah, site of the 2000 Winter Olympics downhill ski events, where she hiked and skied for decades.

Bobbie and Monie enjoyed traveling and many other adventures until his death in 1994. Together they provided about as good a childhood as could be hoped for to their three sons.

She is survived by three loving sons, David (Nancy) of Salt Lake City, Roger (Nancy Spagnoli) of Victor, and Eric (Juule) of Salt Lake City. She is also survived by grandson Tony and granddaughter Trina Terrion (David).
