Hamilton – Barbara Lavina Roberson, 92 of Hamilton passed away August 26, 2016 at her home in Hamilton.

Barbara was born October 3, 1923 in San Diego, California to the late Walter Ray and Velma Lavina Bailey Horr.  She graduated from San Diego High School and then attended San Diego State College, later earning her RN degree from Los Angeles General Hospital School of Nursing.

Barbara practiced as an operating theatre nurse for several years before and after her marriage to Charlie LaFayette Roberson in August 1946. She later went into business with her husband, Charlie, as a florist.  She owned and operated the D-2 Mobile Home Park in Conner from 1973 until her death.  Barbara also worked part time as a florist and art framer for several years after Charlie’s death in 1979.

Barbara was a gifted artist, especially in charcoal and pencil.  She was a keen bridge player and garden enthusiast.  As a strong and athletic young woman, she competed and won at Pistol shooting, long distance ocean swimming and synchronized swimming.  She raced against Esther Williams in an L.A. Times sponsored pool event.

Survivors include her son, Steven C. Roberson of Honokaa, HI; daughter, Susan M. Masters of Amersham, England; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
